Breath-taking experiences in Crimea

Longing for adventures and ready to face challenges? Crimea is the ideal place. The Peninsula can offer lots of options for the adventure-minded traveler: trips by sailing yachts, diving, hiking, rafting, paraplane and parachute flights, mountain biking, horse riding, and speleology. All of these, in Crimean conditions are quite a challenge to accomplish.
Mountainous Crimea is a perfect spot for advanced mountain bikers. They are guaranteed adrenalin-pumping adventures on the Kerch slopes in the eastern end of the Peninsula, as well as in the south-western part between the towns of Simferopol and Alushta. Crimean Mountains, up to 1550 meters of height, with their complex rocks and canyons combine with gently sloping hills, cooling valleys and pebble beaches by the Black Sea shores. In the early centuries, Romans inhabiting this area constructed a military route (Via Militare) through the mountains. At present, the old routs are ideal for biking.  A number of breathtaking impediments will meet you on your way. The medieval ”cave cities” created by Byzantines are of special interest for bike-climbing, the most complex variety of mountain biking.  The places you will visit will be beyond the off-the-beaten-track level and you will be in close and private communion with nature all around you.
Underground vaults researchers, or diggers, will have much to do in here, since Crimea is a peninsula of catacombs. They were used for military purposes since ancient times. In Balaclava, for instance, you will be absorbed by unique dug-outs for submarines with underground tunnels stretched for dozens of miles.
A perfect type of fun one can find in raft trips on rubber boats that go down rough streams of the South Bug river with screams reverberating its unspoiled and almost uninhabited banks.
Opportunities for diving and underwater archeology offer themselves in the best Black Sea spots like Tarkhankut Cape, as well as Ai-Todor Cape where the famous Swallow Nest Castle is located. Underwater caves up to 50 meters of length, grottoes and siphons will open their mysteries to the curious ones. And the Blue Bay close to Sevastopol will lead you into secrets of sunken ruins of ancient Chersonese and more modern artifacts of past battles such as crashed planes and sunken submarine remnants.
If you do not mind getting the rich experience of a bird’s eye view on the marvels of Crimea, a parachute, or a helicopter trip are up to your choice. The necessary equipment and skilled instructors are available.
The rich fauna of Crimean forests attracts hunters. An experienced chasseur will accompany you on your car trip penetrating deep into the woods to chase both gamebird, and hoofed like deer, roe, boar, and mouflon.
Whatever chosen your journey to Crimea will be rewarded by new discoveries with a bit of danger surrounded by spectacular scenery and natural history.
