Right away, we would like to point out that this information resource is not an advertising campaign or attempt to promote somebody’s private political or business interests. This is a portal about our country, Ukraine, and an attempt to introduce you to what is the nearest and largest neighbour of the European Union.

We, Ukrainians, share those commitments to democracy, personal liberties and the rule of law that make European civilisation distinct. We are also realistic people, here in Ukraine, and do understand that, for many people, our country remains a mystery, and stuck in the shadows. Ukraine is neither only Chernobyl nor just “Dynamo-Kyiv”. And it is not Russia, of course. Our population is 48 million. Ukraine is the largest European country located entirely within continental Europe. The portal “See you in Ukraine!” is our way of demonstrating that we want to tell you more about us and are open for interaction.

Ukraine is now in a process of transition. After all, as a sovereign state, the country has been in existence for only sixteen years. We have been through many difficult periods in our history and do not try to hide the problems and contradictions which we are now encountering. Most events in our recent history, like the Orange Revolution, are, however, natural, and, in fact, similar to the experience of many countries. The only difference is that, for most other countries, these experiences are already history while, for Ukraine, they imply an extraordinarily dynamic way of life today. We are grateful to the European Union for its support of those democratic changes which are taking place in our country.

We hope you will take an interest in the historical changes and modern life of our country today. Then, Ukraine will not remain a blank spot on the map of Europe – which it has been for too long a time. We hope that you might agree that our country deserves more attention. But even, if you will be simply ask yourself: «Is Ukraine interesting for me?», for us, this will be already a step ahead, in the right direction. We would be glad to see you as a guest of our country.
